Israel had just returned from exile, and the Chronicler is reminding them of God’s provision in their life. He takes them back to the early days of Abraham and reminds them that it was God all along who kept Abraham safe and walking with Him. The point was for Israel to know that the only reasons they had returned from exile was because of God’s provision. The same was true for Abraham. The same way true for them. The same is true for you.
Your life has been full of ups and downs, but through it all the providential hand of God has been working to get you where He wants you to be. So today takes some time to thank God for His provision and protection over you. Read 1 Chronicles 16:19-22:
19 When you were few in number,
of little account, and sojourners in it,
20 wandering from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another people,
21 he allowed no one to oppress them;
he rebuked kings on their account,
22 saying, “Touch not my anointed ones,
do my prophets no harm!”
God has done the same for you. He has always been there. When you were too small and powerless to care for yourself, God took care of you. When things were going South in your life, God was there to turn things around.
So take some time today and thank God for the thousand ways you have seen His hand on your life, and the billion unseen ways you aren’t even aware of.
