The day forever ended

Posted on Posted in Theology

Once a year the people of Israel would gather and hold their breath as the High Priest would go into the Holy of Holies to meet with God.

The High Priest entered through brood and with blood

Blood to make atonement because there was a relationship that needed restoring. God was holy, perfect, and good; they were not.

Their sin provoked His anger, and only blood would soak it up and remove it from His people.

And this was done every year. On and on. Forever

Forever, because God is always holy and we are always sinful. And the blood of animals only band-aided the problem, but never fixed it.

So the day of Atonement happened each year forever, until one day it happened only once forever.

On that day Jesus, our true High Priest went into the Holy of Holies not with animal’s blood but with His own.

And with His blood He didn’t band-aid the problem, He removed the wound

So now there is no longer one day of atonement each year, becau

se one day Jesus made atonement forever.

Afterward sitting down to say it is finished, forever.
