In light of Thanksgiving week, I’ll post FIVE ways to give thanks to God this week from 1 Chronicles 16. Here is the first. (Subscribe here so you don’t miss the next four)
In 1 Chronicles 16 David is calling the people of Israel to give thanks to God because the Ark of the Covenant is returning to the city of Jerusalem. And since the Ark (the presence of God) is returning to God’s place, David calls for a day of thanksgiving.
If you are believer in Jesus, God’s very presence has came into your heart, therefore your lips should continually offer Him a thanksgiving of praise. So today focus on thanking God for His presence in your life.
Take a moment and read these six verses from 1 Chronicles 16:
8 – Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
9 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
10 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
11 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
12 Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles and the judgments he uttered,
13 O offspring of Israel his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
Now take a moment and give thanks to God for His presence in your life. David tells us that “the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice”. So if you are having a hard time rejoicing and giving thanks to God, if may be because you are not seeking Him. And if that’s the case, start seeking Him today! Seek His presence continually. Thank God for who He is and who He has made you to be (His chosen ones).
So on this Monday of Thanksgiving week, don’t miss the One who deserves all your thanksgiving. Instead, set some time aside today to rejoice and give thanks to the Lord for His presence in your life.
