How to Stay in the Word this Summer

Posted on Posted in Personal Growth

It may be true that summer days are long. However, between shuttling the kids around, keeping the yard mowed, and drying off from the pool, increased daylight can also mean decreased time in the Word.

So here’s a little hack that has helped me soak up scripture during the busy days of summer.

Take one verse with you as you go.

I started with Ephesians 1:1. I wrote it down and read it ten times. Then I covered it up and said it ten times without looking. Then for the rest of the day, I recalled it in my mind, repeated it, and meditated on it.

The next day I did the same with verse 2.

Today I’ve been hauling hay with my dad and grandad, and the words “which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight” (Ephesians 1:8) have been running through my mind and stirring in my heart. And here’s what I know; the God of all creation has lavished His grace upon me. How cool is that?

Don’t let your time in the Word struggle this summer. Tomorrow, take one verse with you as you go, and see if it doesn’t change you along the way.
