This Quote Changes Things.

In the fall I drive a semi truck. That’s my super power.

Trucking for my grandfather during harvest affords me one luxury I don’t always get; listening to endless podcast as the wheels roll on and on.

Two weeks ago I heard a Zig Zigglar quote on the EntreLeadership podcast that has been playing in head ever since. Here’s the quote:

“Don’t give up what you want MOST, for what you want NOW.”

What do you want MOST in life? Is it to be healthy, get out of debt, have a vibrant marriage, grow closer to God, etc.?

Now think about all the things you want right now that keep you from having those things you want most?

Right now you want to sleep in, so you don’t get up early and exercise.

Right now you want Oreos before bed, so you throw out your commitment to healthy food.

Right now you want to relax and stare at your phone, so you neglect connecting with your wife through conversation.

Right now you don’t feel like reading your Bible or praying, so you don’t grow any closer to God.

Do you see the problem?

So here’s the new challenge: stop letting what you NOW, keep you from pursuing what you want MOST!

Instead, make hard sacrifices now so that you can push past the fleeting desires of today, in pursuit of greater things tomorrow.

So what are those things you want MOST in life? In order to get them, you will have to start saying no to some of the things you want right now.

The choice is yours.
